If you’re hip to the latest trends, you’ve no doubt come across the term Nootropics now and then. It may seem too complicated or difficult to get started, but I assure you, it is well worth the investment. I’ve found nothing that gives me as much bang for my buck as Nootropics, and I want to share that with the world.
So, What are Nootropics?
Nootropics are smart drugs that improve your mental functions. This can include your attention, working memory, and even your mood. The word itself is a derivative of the Greek words for mind (νους) and bend (τρέπειν). It was originally coined by a Romainian Doctor, Dr. Corneliu E. Giurgea in the 1970s. Since then, much has been discovered about these neuro-enhancers, and as studies are conducted we’ll continue to learn more.
Should I use Nootropics?
My answer is always: why not? Who couldn’t use an extra umph to go that extra mile? Maybe you’d want to use them to give you a competitive mental edge over your competition, or just to help restore your brain to normalcy. Nootropics can definitely help in those areas. They’ve also been shown to alleviate symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s, and ADD/ADHD. As someone previously diagnosed with ADD, I can confidently say they’ve helped my symptoms tremendously. I used to stay in a fog daily with no real purpose, but with the help of some key “stacks,” I’ve been able to lift myself back up and start anew!
What are these “Stacks?”
Stacks are combinations of various Nootropics that work in synergy to achieve maximum benefits. You can either buy a product with pre-measured combinations (i.e. Alpha Brain), or you can purchase each of the ingredients individually and take them at the same time. The choice is entirely up to you. The main benefit of buying a pre-packaged stack is the convenience of not having to keep track of multiple sources, while the benefit of buying individual ingredients boils down to the cost savings.
How many types of Nootropics are there?
Too many to count! And the number is growing as we discover more chemical compounds. Each Nootropic does something a little different from the others. Some help you concentrate, while others may alleviate symptoms of anxiety. Some are variations on a pre-existing compound, and some are entirely new. The good news is that they generally have very little or no side effects for all the benefits you can get.
Are Nootropics legal?
Absolutely. While the umbrella term does cover prescription-only cognitive enhancers such as Adderall and Modafinil, there are plenty of over-the-counter supplements and smart drugs that can give you a mental edge above the competition. We’ll examine different types and how they can help you achieve your goals.
Do they work like in the movie Limitless (2011)?
First off, great movie. For many, it’s their first introduction to the world of Nootropics and for good reason. Who wouldn’t want to obtain Eddie Morra’s mental prowess? It’s important to keep in mind, however, that you probably won’t achieve super-human status like seen in Limitless. But if you keep realistic expectations, you’ll no doubt see amazing improvements in your cognitive functions.
